Welcome to our recipes for starters. These recipes use various ingredients and measurements for the young chef to get acquainted with cooking.
HOMEMADE WHEAT PANCAKES

Ingredients:

1C- Whole Wheat Flour
2T- Sugar in the Raw or any RAW SUGAR
1/2 tsp- Cinnamon
1/4 tsp- Baking Soda
1C- Almond Milk
​
Mix all ingredients until smooth. Make sure to use a scraper for the sides of the bowl. Pour oil in pan or on griddle to coat the bottom. Use a 1/4 measuring cup to pour pancake mix onto pan. Cook 2 to 2 1/2 minutes per side.
MALT-O-MEAL BREAD

Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. This recipe gives your child nutrients cornbread lacks. (also corn is no good for your stomach.)
Ingredients:

1 1/4 C- Whole Wheat Flour
3/4 C- Malt-O-Meal (uncooked dry)
1/2 C- Raw Sugar
3/4 C- Almond Milk
1/4 C- Olive oil
1 T- Baking Powder
1/2 tsp.- Sea Salt
1 tsp.- Pure Vanilla Extract
1 Egg

Combine all ingredients. Mix well until moist. Lightly grease round or square pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until wooden toothpick comes out clean in center.

WHOLE WHEAT YEAST FREE BREAD

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees
Lightly oil and flour bread pan

Ingredients:
​
3C- Whole Wheat Flour
1 1/2 C- Water
1T- Baking Powder
1T- Olive Oil
1/2 tsp.- Sea Salt
​
Sift flour into bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Slowly add water mixing with fork.
Cook in oven middle rack for 50-55 minutes.

NAVY BEAN SOUP
​
Ingredients:
​
2C- small navy beans ( can use canned rinse drain thoroughly)
1 medium onion- chopped
1T Sugar in the Raw (or Turbinado)
1 Bell Pepper- any color
1 Celery stalk- diced
1 Clove of Garlic- diced
1/2 tsp.- Pepper
1/2 tsp.- Sea salt
1 tsp.- Sage
1 tsp.- Paprika
1/3 C- Canola or Olive oil
1/2 can of Tomato Paste
2 Quarts Water

If dry beans, soak as directed on package.
Add all ingredients in large pot. Bring to boil. Reduce to medium heat. Cook covered 1 hour. Add water if soupbecomes to thick for you. Stir occasionally to stop bottom from burning.

If you want smoother soup pour 3/4 mixture into blender- add back to pot.
​
Serve with Malt-O-Meal Bread

TIPS FOR PREPARING FISH
Scale it , Skin it, Bake it, Broil it or Steam it.. Fish cooks fast 10-15 minutes except when you boil it. When you boil it bring to a boil first.
Use canola oil before using vegetable oil.
Flavoring tips:
Butter
Granulated Garlic
Paprika
Basil
Parsley
Cayenne Pepper
Lemon
It is best to not add anything raw to what is cooked. If you are adding vegetables to fish, saute' or cook the vegetables first.
Baked Fish
2 or 3 lbs. fish 1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 stick butter 2 tsp. seasoned salt
1/2 cup canola oil Salt and Pepper
1 tsp. Paprika 1/4 cup wheat flour

Clean fish and cut into servings or cut in half, down the back. Season and sprinkle with wheat flour. Heat oil in pan or roaster in oven (450 degrees), add fish to hot oil. Cook uncovered or covered, baste it with the oil to brown it nicely, if you like. When brown, drain off oil. Cover the fish, return it to the oven and turn OFF heat. Let fish steam for 35 to 40 minutes.
YIELD: 2 to 4 servings
