So, out of nowhere we have a new "fad"! But, is it a fad or a tool for Special Needs children? More children deemed "normal" have caused teachers havoc these last two grading periods with this Neuro-Sensory toy.

Our son, Amir, is what they call HFA-High Functioning Autistic. He saw one YouTube video and he has two spinners already. He insists he needs ALL THE SPINNERS. Which, in his world means every one he saw during his Fidget Spinner YouTube marathon. So, I decided to look into the various spinners.

I found they range from the inexpensive to the 20 bucks!! "What is the difference?",

I asked myself. Well, just like anything manufactured it deals with materials. A basic spinner is a colored plastic casing. A more expensive spinner will say it is made from stronger metals and is usually a varied design. These designs are deemed "cool" by design and colors of the material. The inner workings however, are basically the same across the board.

So, how about the claim it is for fidgeting? Autism? ADHD? Well, all I can tell you is this: Amir loves it and it keeps his hands from "flapping". Our toddler will sit still and make it spin on a book for several minutes at a time. This means a spinner and a book will keep her still while I do dishes. Right now, to calm my nerves while writing my first blog piece for my new website, I am spinning one beside my laptop on the table. Yes, it is calming. I equate it to "white noise". Something in the background that is soothing.

So, want to try it out and don't know where to begin? Head over HERE and take a look at a few inexpensive ones. Also, if you want to see a bit more variety they are all over the INTERNET for purchase just click below!
